The house sounds “muddy” …

The house looks muddy ...If the house looks muddy, this guy might be your problem. However, if the house sounds “muddy” and you can’t fix it with EQ, odds are you have some wild sound reflections coming from uncontrolled stage sound sources. These could be things like miked guitar amps bouncing off the back stage wall, floor wedges ricocheting off the walls and ceiling, and keyboard and drum monitor amps. As a bass guitar player, I can tell you it is never the bass guitar playing too loud – I am sure there is no such thing as too much bass guitar! 😉

So how do you deal with it? Reduce your stage volume: eliminate any amp not necessary for the sound of the instrument. Try running the instruments directly. Use in-ear monitors with a SamePage Digital Performance Station.
